Jenny Lumet is an American actress and screenwriter who was born on February 2, 1967 in New York City. She is a daughter of director Sidney Lumet and journalist Gail Lumet Buckley, and granddaughter of the famous singer-actress Lena Horne. She is a younger sister of sound editor Amy Lumet.

Jenny Lumet was married to actor Bobby Cannavale (1994-2003) and actor Jake Cannavale is their son. Later on, both get divorced and she married to Alexander Weinstein in 2008 and they have a daughter named Sasha. Recently, they are separated from each other.

Jenny Lumet is an ambitious girl and wanted to pursue her career in entertainment field from her childhood. She began her acting career at the age of 15. Afterwards, she turns her acting career to a screenwriter.
Her movie “Rachel Getting Married (2008)” was an award winning work in her writing career. The movie was directed by an Oscar award-winning director Jonathan Demme. She appeared as an actress in the movies like Deathtrap (1982), Running on Empty (1988) and Q & A (1990) which were directed by her father. Beside these movies, we can see her in the action movie Tougher Than Leather (1988), Running on Empty (1988), Reverend Run and Assassination (1994).
Rachel Getting Married was her best work in her whole career. She was nominated in various Award functions and won the title of Best Screenplay in seven events.
