Childhood and Background
Jaina Lee Ortiz was born in California on 20th November 1986 and was raised in The Bronx, New York. Ms. Ortiz is the only child of the first generation Puerto Rican parents, Joe Ortiz and Daisey Acevedo. Her father Joe was a homicide detective in New York City by his profession. Her parents got separated while she was only 7 years old. Later on, she spent her childhood with her mom. She attended the City University of New York.
Career Path
Ms. Ortiz started her dancing career since her childhood. When she was nine, she joined Salsa/Mambo classes as her hobby. By the age of 15, she appeared herself as a salsa instructor and also performed internationally. An excellent salsa dancer pursued her career towards acting when she was 16 years old. She appeared in the student films. Furthermore, she trained for two years at Maggie Flanigan Studios, in the Meisner technique. After that, she debuted in the theatrical show in an off-Broadway play.
In 2009, Ortiz auditioned for the reality show of VH1-“Scream Queens 2”. And in the season finale, she ended up with the position of first runner-up. After onwards, she showed up in many national television commercials and theatrical performances. And her hard work took a right direction after she cast for the series The After by Chris Charter along with Sharon Lawrence and Adrian Pasdar. In that series, she appeared as a rookie cop. However, that series was unable to continue after a year. Then in March 2015, she was picked for the lead female pilot (aka Annalise Villa) opposite to Morris Chestnut in the series Rosewood which is scheduled to air on Fox Channel.
Personal Life
It seems like Ms. Ortiz wants to keep her personal life confidential from the media. However, she gave a little information about her marriage life. She is married to Bradley Marques. Bradley Marques is a writer and director. Also, he acted as a co-star of Jaina Lee Ortiz in Rosewood series. This lovely couple recently celebrated their 7th anniversary on January. They do not have any child yet.
